Position Summary
The primary function of a Credit Assistant is the following:
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with processing and verification of credit applications
Solicit payment on overdue accounts
Assist with posting customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions daily
Assist with keeping records of all delinquent accounts, incomplete files, and credit risks
Assist with verifying references to determine credit risk in customers
Assist with applying for liens and monitoring the associated time cycles
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
One to three years of related work experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Demonstrated knowledge of credit‑related laws, procedures, practices, and managing customer accounts
Core Competencies
Must be a team player
Possess strong organizational and analytical skills
Demonstrate high integrity and attention to detail
Ability to self‑manage, show initiative, and solve problems
Communicate professionally with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position in an office environment approximately 80% of the time
Frequent movement within the office to access files and office machinery
Ability to operate basic office machinery
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management
Required Cognitive Skills
Ability to problem‑solve and prioritize tasks
Ability to manage stress related to deadlines and ongoing projects
Ability to multitask
Ability to receive and analyze information
Ability to communicate solutions quickly when issues arise
Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
