Job Summary Lead and support field operations with precision and professionalism. This contract‑to‑direct hire opportunity will have you briefing and debriefing field crews, processing field data, retracing and surveying property boundaries, and preparing final surveys and maps for approval.
Key Responsibilities
Set up a leveled robotic total station quickly and understand fundamental GNSS workflows.
Perform a closed‑loop traverse, run a bench loop level, upload field data to servers daily, and keep a clean and organized field vehicle.
Complete daily field reports, vehicle inspection reports, mileage reports, expense reports, and timesheets on a weekly basis.
Communicate with clients, project managers, surveyors, managers, and other stakeholders to provide accurate data.
Perform field surveying for various projects and ensure accuracy of data collected by the field crew.
Perform moderately complex field calculations to determine property boundaries, retraces, and survey boundary lines.
Conduct topographic surveys, as‑built surveys, locate and set boundary corners, and navigate property efficiently.
Review field data, reports, and maps to ensure proper QA techniques; provide feedback and coaching to the project team and conduct site visits to maintain QC standards.
Research existing record information, including record maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right‑of‑way documents; maintain field data records.
Lead and mentor others while engaged in field surveying work.
Work outdoors in rough terrain; carry, push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds; climb to various elevations; read alpha/numeric symbols and perform computation and design.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Drafting, Surveying, or equivalent with two years of relevant experience, or other relevant combination of education and/or experience.
Knowledge of Trimble GNSS receivers and robotic total stations, Trimble Access software.
Knowledge of DJI UAVs, Leica terrestrial scanners.
Skilled in the use and maintenance of survey instruments (GNSS, robotics, data collectors, level rods, terrestrial scanners, UAVs, etc.).
Experienced in all aspects of land surveying including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, etc. with the ability to read and interpret various types of construction and property documents.
Ability to effectively instruct, direct, and lead others in the field.
Ability to read and interpret plats, deeds, easements, and plans.
Knowledge of field surveying practices and procedures; building knowledge of office surveying practices and procedures.
Valid driver’s license and sufficient driving record.
Ability to work varying schedules.
Ability to travel at times, and overnight.
