Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Job Summary:
The Insurance Verifier is responsible for verifying insurance for all scheduled patients and informing them of their financial responsibility before surgery. You will discuss payment obligations with patients, correct insurance benefits, co‑pays, and deductibles, and complete verification forms in the computer system. You will work with physician offices to obtain prior authorization/pre‑certs and collaborate with the scheduler, materials manager, and front desk to eliminate same‑day cancellations for non‑payment. This role is critical to the facility’s revenue and offers opportunities to learn other aspects of the business office.
Responsibilities:
Verify insurance for all scheduled patients.
Communicate patients’ financial obligations.
Identify insurance benefits, co‑pays, and deductibles accurately on verification forms.
Obtain prior authorization/pre‑certs from physicians’ offices as needed.
Collaborate with scheduler, materials manager, and front desk to reduce same‑day cancellations for non‑payment.
Document all verification data correctly in the computer system.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of one year of insurance verification experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, staff, physicians, and management.
Proficient computer and mathematical skills.
Detail‑oriented with basic knowledge of medical terminology.
