Sr. Estimator – Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc.
Sturgeon Electric’s Commercial and Industrial (C&I) electrical construction division specializes in large-scale commercial electrical projects, integrating Integrated Lean Project Delivery, pre‑construction services, in‑house pre‑fabrication, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities. The Sr. Estimator plays a pivotal role in maintaining competitiveness, profitability, and growth while cultivating relationships with internal and external customers. Essential Functions
Prepare complete labor and material cost estimates. Outline and prepare responses to RFPs and RFQs. Follow company SOPs for estimating. Develop strategies for winning projects. Maintain and develop the estimating database. Build and sustain client relationships. Assist colleagues with cost estimates and bid package preparation. Review and evaluate estimating staff performance. Act as a first point of contact for the estimating team. Coordinate with Project Management. Maintain bid log and report to corporate. Prepare bills of material for Purchasing. Determine constructability requirements via field walk‑downs with customers, subcontractors, and construction personnel. Compare project documents for accuracy and consistency; handle data entry. Perform field take‑offs and evaluations for estimate preparation. Participate in estimate review with internal and external stakeholders. Assist construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle in tracking and understanding cost estimates. Prepare and submit change orders. Follow up at project completion to close estimating loops, inclusive of invoicing and cost tracking. Perform duties primarily in a company‑designated office or field location. Potentially manage the Estimating and BIM departments. Handle additional duties as assigned. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Comply with the company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry‑specific professional and ethical standards. Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of electrical construction estimating experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of current local and national electrical codes (NEC). Working knowledge of local electrical codes. Ability to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, and other plans and specifications, including blueprints, proposals, and related documents. Working knowledge of electrical materials and installation methods. General knowledge of engineered material costs. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Accubid, and other estimating software. Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills. Team‑player mentality. Self‑driven with the ability to work independently for extended periods. Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $95,000–$135,000 per year (commensurate with experience; paid weekly).
