District Overview Kiewit Engineering Group, Inc is a full‑service consulting and engineering firm serving the infrastructure and engineering markets. Our combined staff of more than 1,300 engineers and design professionals have expertise that spans all major engineering disciplines to serve transportation, power, water/wastewater, mining, building, and oil, gas & chemical markets. We are a high performing team of engineers and designers that develop projects through the project life‑cycle engaging exciting projects throughout North America. Our staff leads the power markets engineering process and collaborates with Kiewit’s construction teams to approach construction‑driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost‑effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit’s legacy of excellence.
Location This position can be based in any of the following office locations: Lenexa, KS; Lone Tree, CO; Houston, TX; Raleigh, NC; Phoenix/Tempe, AZ; New York City, NY; or Woodcliff Lake, NJ. For roles in Chattanooga, TN; Detroit, MI; or Richmond, VA, the position will start remotely and transition to a hybrid/in‑office arrangement once the new office is established.
Responsibilities
Draft sketches, piping and instrument diagrams, or model 3D equipment items for power plant systems including steam cycle systems, boiler feed and condensate, water treatment, fuel handling, hydraulic, heat transfer systems, conveying systems, and air and gas systems.
Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
Adhere to schedules and work assignments to ensure successful project completion.
Coordinate with other drafters, designers and other team members assigned to a project or task, and support work progress and results.
Train and advise interns or new graduates.
Qualifications
At least 3‑10 years’ related design experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Drafting and Design or related discipline.
Proficient in basic computer programs including MS Word and Excel, web browsing and e‑mail programs.
Knowledge of drafting software including MicroStation, Autodesk, SmartPlant.
Working Conditions
Regular, reliable attendance.
Work productively and meet deadlines timely.
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
Base Compensation $152,000/yr - $159,000/yr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
