Anesthesia Technician (Part Time - Days/Evening)

Shift Hours:
Monday - Friday 12:30PM - 5:30PM (Evening job, 20 hours per week)
Summary:
Performs technical work in setting up, calibrating, and troubleshooting anesthesia equipment. Assists anesthesiologist or CRNA with invasive and non-invasive monitoring devices, positioning patients, and ensuring equipment is functional and sterile.
Responsibilities
Assists the Anesthesiologist or CRNA with invasive and non-invasive monitoring devices on patients, positioning and transport of patients. Prepares fluids and setups, observes sterile technique during line placement, assists with preinduction, induction, maintenance, and extubation/transport phases, labels specimens, uses PPE, handles sharps safely, and practices laser safety.
Performs quality control and troubleshooting on assigned anesthesia equipment. Maintains equipment through 12-point inspections, checks sterility, expiration, packaging integrity, labels fluids/medications, discards obsolete supplies, and completes departmental QA program.
Sets up anesthesia equipment and supplies, cleans equipment daily with approved solutions, practises scrupulous scope care and documentation, restocks cabinets and returns unused supplies to correct locations.
Education Requirements
Graduation from an accredited Anesthesia Technician program (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Basic Life Support certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements
Graduating from an accredited Anesthesia Technician program: No prior experience required.
High School diploma or GED: Six months operating room experience in calibration, maintenance, and repair of anesthesia equipment, or related experience in a hospital/healthcare setting.
For Trainee: One year operating room experience involving direct patient care and/or equipment maintenance and calibration.
