Litigation Legal Secretary
Location: East Bay/South Bay/San Francisco (multiple positions available).
Base Pay Range $75,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Document Preparation and Management:
Draft, revise, proofread legal documents (pleadings, motions, discovery responses, subpoenas, briefs), ensuring correct formatting and compliance with court rules and deadlines.
E-Filing and Case Management:
File documents electronically with state and federal courts, maintain and organize electronic and physical case files, keeping records up-to-date and accessible.
Scheduling and Calendaring:
Coordinate meetings, hearings, depositions, court appearances; manage attorneys’ calendars to avoid conflicts and ensure timely preparation.
Client Communication:
Serve as point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, court personnel; handle inquiries and relay messages accurately and promptly.
Research and Information Gathering:
Conduct basic legal research and gather relevant information for case preparation; summarize findings and compile data.
Administrative Support:
Answer phones, manage correspondence, organize files, handle mail; order supplies and maintain office upkeep.
Billing and Timekeeping:
Assist with tracking billable hours, preparing invoices; ensure accurate entry into the firm’s billing system.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years as a legal secretary, focused on litigation or corporate law; experience in a law firm highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills; thorough understanding of legal procedures and terminology.
