Senior Specialist/Technician If you are looking for an opportunity to work alongside technical experts in the power industry, use your knowledge and experience, possessa CA C-10 license and enjoy traveling, then this position is for you! SEL Engineering Services, Inc. (SEL-ES) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Senior Automation Specialist position. In this role you will train and assist customers with the installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and/or protection systems, both on-site and from SEL offices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a distinguished level of expertise in the detail design practices of protection and automation systems.

Teach, develop, mentor, and influence SEL employees and support hiring the highly qualified employees.

Work within the project team to develop project deliverables.

Train and assist customers with the installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and/or protection systems, both on-site and from SEL offices.

Follows processes and recognizes the impact of problems. Creates and implements process enhancements.

Work in a safe, healthful and environmentally sound manner, report accidents and unsafe conditions promptly, and perform ergonomic exercises to reduce likelihood of injuries.

Provide support for other SEL marketing, sales, application engineering, and development activities.

Acts as a mentor to specialists and technicians.

Model, teach, and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing principles.

Understand. Create. Simplify.

Required Qualifications

Must possess and maintain a California C-10 Electrical Contractor License

Associate’s degree in electronic technology or equivalent experience/military school training

12 plus years of experience with electrical power systems or industrial automation system practices

Good knowledge of system protection, integration, and automation applications working knowledge of electric power systems and protective relay applications

Excellent technical training

Ability to learn, mentor, and teach concepts and technical details of products

Ability to work independently, accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities

Willing to travel as needed

Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills

Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Background check results satisfactory to SEL

Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with electric power transmission, distribution, and/or generation systems

Experience being a part of project teams
