As an Aeronautical Engineer you will:
Apply state‑of‑the‑art CFD tools to the design and analysis of flight vehicles.
Perform CAD geometry manipulation, meshing, solution setup and execution on local and remote Linux‑based clusters, and post‑process results for engineering analysis.
Understand fluid flow phenomena including compressibility, turbulence, and heat transfer.
Perform analyses related to missile launch vehicle systems, re‑entry bodies, and satellites using modeling and simulation methods and analytical techniques.
Author technical memos and provide recommendations to data packages for peer and customer reviews, presenting analysis results to internal engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel during technical exchange meetings.
Be willing to work odd hours and overtime on occasion.
Desired Skills
Strong educational background in hypersonic aerodynamics, gas dynamics, computational fluid dynamics, and computer programming (C/C++, MATLAB, Python).
Experience with solvers used by NASA for entry vehicles, e.g., FUN3D, Loci/CHEM.
Prior experience developing and analyzing hypersonic thermochemically reacting flow fields.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, self‑motivated, and able to support multiple projects.
Expertise in grid generation and CFD software such as Pointwise, Fluent, ANSA, and TecPlot.
Experience planning and conducting wind tunnel tests.
Master’s degree or PhD in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
Location Huntsville, AL 35805 – Onsite full‑time at Lockheed Martin Huntsville facility. No telecommuting.
Security Clearance Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years. U.S. citizen required.
