Job Description ASRC Federal NetCentric Technology, LLC is seeking a
Journeyman Fire Protection Systems Technician
to support ongoing activities on our Kirtland AFB Engineering Operations Services (KEOS) contract at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Job Summary The Journeyman Fire Protection Systems technician will be responsible for ensuring that all routine maintenance is performed on time and that all repairs, modifications, additions, upgrades, etc. are compatible with existing fire sprinkler systems. Responds to customer service calls in a timely and efficient manner, troubleshoots, and repairs as needed. Performs service tasks required to fulfill service requirements for time, material, emergency service, test, and inspect contractual agreements. Completes necessary documentation in accordance with the company’s processes and the customer’s service requirements. Communicate with central dispatch and utilities shop supervisor on current work order status and receives updates on outstanding customer issues daily following the service process(es). Participates in an after-hours on-demand service program.
Duties and Responsibilities
Correctly and efficiently complete installation, modification, and repairs, of various fire sprinkler systems and equipment.
Perform all required fire sprinkler system component inspections (annual, semi-annual, quarterly, and monthly).
Perform general maintenance tasks and document work for compliance and quality assurance.
Ensure compliance with NFPA standards and local codes.
Troubleshoot and repair system issues, including deficiencies.
Accurately inspect, test and maintain fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, deluge system and backflow prevention devices.
Properly measures, fabricates, and installs odd size adjoining parts and/or improvises installations when blueprints and sketches do not provide sufficient information.
Properly uses, maintains, and accounts for all types of hand and/or power tools as required, to accomplish assigned duties.
Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, operation, and repair, to include routing, replacement, slant, slope, and fall of system.
Skill in the use of any of the accepted trade methods and techniques, such as seating equipment, and installing any combinations of couplings, unions, and joint need for proper operation of the systems.
Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fitting, using coupling, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
Fill pipes with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angles, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves using hand and power tools.
Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fitting, using hand and power tools.
Hang steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.
Repair, maintain, and replace broken pipes and valves.
Be able to perform on call duties after normal duty hours and on weekends and holidays.
Maintains operation, inspection, and maintenance records on fire systems within the Government systems of record, including NexGen IT.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum education level of high school diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant experience in lieu of diploma/GED.
Minimum four (4) years of journeyman fire protections systems technician experience.
Valid MS-12J Fire Sprinkler License.
Backflow prevention technician certification.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to collect, analyze and summarize data and prepare daily reports.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
Possess competent and effective computer skills to include using Microsoft Office 365 applications.
Must have proficient English oral and written communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate with employees, management, and customers.
Be able to read and interpret building diagrams and technical manuals.
Must be a US citizen and currently possess or be able to obtain/maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.
Must possess and maintain a valid US driver's license.
Be able to pass a drug screen.
Have ability to perform repetitive physical tasks involving lifting at least 50 lbs.
Be committed to providing for and maintaining a safe working environment.
Be proficient with computers and/or iPad use and email programs
