Network Engineer Consultant
Location: Columbia, South Carolina (South Carolina residents only; no relocation)
Type: Contract W2
Contract Duration: 12 months, possibility of extension
Hybrid, 3 days onsite per week
Interview Process: 1 round, virtual
Seeking a Network Engineer to
support server hosting initiatives, remediation, and conversion into a segmented framework
. The role involves planning, designing, configuring, and troubleshooting
physical and virtual server environments , ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations, and supporting day to day operations.
Responsibilities
Participate in server hosting projects, migrations, and upgrades
Advise on hardware configurations and system implementations
Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot and deliver solutions
Implement access controls, security baselines, and audit logging (CIS, NIST standards)
Provide Tier 3 escalation support for identity, access, and authentication issues
Work closely with network, server, and help desk teams
Produce technical documentation, implementation plans, and roadmaps
Ensure compliance with security policies and streamline workflows
Required Skills
Windows Server experience
Group Policy Objects (GPO) and PowerShell
Microsoft Active Directory
Backup and Disaster Recovery (DR)
Advanced knowledge of computer/network hardware, software, operating systems
Security and data classification (CDC, HIPAA, CJIS)
IT system analysis, design, testing, and maintenance techniques
Preferred Skills
Microsoft HyperV
Linux Server, AIX
