Central Region Business Development Director
The Central Region Business Development Director will lead business growth for WSP USA’s US Transportation and Infrastructure Business Line, driving top‑line growth across the business and with our counterparts across various end markets.
Your Impact
Develop and execute Transportation & Infrastructure’s business growth strategy
Bring a deep understanding of infrastructure development and support clients early and throughout the development lifecycle
Partner to develop and implement T&I's strategic plan
Identify, qualify and engage key pursuits and project opportunities
Support development of an active pipeline through market research, networking and referrals
Assist in identifying and recruiting key personnel necessary to win and deliver top opportunities
Establish and maintain relationships with key client decision‑makers, including conducting client meetings to understand project needs, identify opportunities, and gather client feedback for T&I services
Track sales pipeline, forecast revenue, and monitor performance against business development goals
Work with our Global Client Program to develop specific tactical plans for extending WSP services for key clients across all business lines, serving as a catalyst for client coordination and cross‑selling efforts in collaboration with regional leaders and client account leaders
Partner with leadership to develop and monitor business development budgets, civic and professional organization participation, and coach client engagement teams
Perform as the champion and coordinator of T&I's relationships with clients
Provide personal engagement and leadership to major pursuit strategies, proposals, and interview preparations
Deliver firm‑wide resources to the key initiatives by building and maintaining strong relationships across all of WSP’s business lines, end markets, and regions
Partner with the Strategic Growth Team (SGT) to execute T&I’s marketing and sales needs
Collaborate with the Regional Executives and Government Affairs Teams to supervise T&I's civic engagement and Top Opportunities programs
Represent T&I through involvement in high‑impact client and industry events
Foster partnerships in the industry to inform T&I's choices on building teams for key pursuits
Partner with Corporate Communications leadership in developing and implementing external brand and communications strategies to ensure WSP is seen as a trusted thought leader in the industry and to let clients know about the firm’s initiatives, projects, and people
Who You Are Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences, business, finance, planning, public policy, or a closely related discipline (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 15 years of infrastructure consulting, including at least five years of successful experience in developing client relationships, business development, and management for a national business
Specific expertise in the infrastructure industry and established relationships with teaming partners and key client decision makers
Proven track record in business development, with experience growing a business, generating leads, and expanding market presence in the public and private sectors
Demonstrated experience of leadership, personal accountability, persistence, and goal‑orientation; able to effectively network across the organization at all levels
Ability to innovate and rethink the conventional approach to client and employee engagement
Strong influencing skills: ability to inform, define, and influence decision makers based on facts and logic; ability to build consensus and resolve conflict rapidly in the interest of broader WSP
Commitment to internal and external client service
Experience in leading and winning major strategic pursuits
Excellent communication skills (presenting and writing)
Organized, self‑starter with a strong entrepreneurial spirit
Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and abiding by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies
Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree is preferred
Experience with managing profit and loss and metrics
Strategic planning experience

Compensation Expected Salary (all locations): $203,400 – $341,110. The compensation range is provided in good faith and may vary based on qualifications, location and internal equity. WSP USA reserves the right to offer additional compensation.
