Are you passionate about electronics security and looking for an opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of a corrections institution? We have an exciting opportunity available as an Electronics Maintenance Technician, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient security maintenance of our facility.
Responsibilities This position will assist in maintaining the network of inmate computers that are available for inmate use at the various work and learning sites at the new Women's Rapid City Correctional Facility and assist with the following:
General understanding of electronics.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues in systems that do not fall under BIT such as legal typing PCs, body scanner PCs and PI systems not controlled by BIT.
Working knowledge of analog and digital IP camera functionality and the ability to install, replace and troubleshoot cameras when they stop functioning, including cable and power supply troubleshooting.
Good working knowledge of Department of Corrections technology currently in use and the ability to learn future systems.
Current systems include:
Milestone video management;
Gallagher security access;
Torus Key lockers;
Adani body scanners;
Kenwood digital radios and KAS‑20 software;
Nice Systems radio traffic recording system;
Detekion Security Systems for fence detection;
Guard 1 Plus Rounds tracking.
Work well with vendors for service and installation projects and report on progress and issues.
Learn and adapt quickly to new technology to program and set up new systems as they are acquired.
Installation and Maintenance Tasks
Maintenance of the Milestone security camera software/system;
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in technology systems that do not fall under BIT;
Maintain Adani Body Scanner system;
Complete quarterly audits of inmate computers;
Submit and monitor BIT work orders;
Escort and supervise contractors entering facility;
Job duties and responsibilities would be for MDSP and YCWC;
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of
Broadcast equipment;
Electronics maintenance techniques, terminology, and principles;
Electronic test equipment;
FCC rules and regulations;
Operation and maintenance of communications equipment and systems.
Ability
Accurately diagnose technical problems;
Select most effective methods of repair;
Communicate effectively;
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co‑workers and client agencies;
Interpret and follow agency policies and procedures.
