Key Responsibilities
Manage the delivery of environmental services, general maintenance, property management, and preventive maintenance across assigned buildings and grounds.
Supervise two M1 Managers who lead multi‑disciplinary teams, including 27 maintenance personnel and three Facilities Services Specialist 3s responsible for contracted custodial services.
Lead and facilitate emergency maintenance activities and utility outages on the Columbus Campus, ensuring timely communication with affected occupants, senior leadership, Public Safety, A&P Communications, and building leaders.
Serve as the central liaison for facilities‑related communications, maintaining regular contact with building representatives to meet or exceed service expectations.
Collaborate with the FDC Project Team on major construction and renovation projects, manage capital and operational budgets, and partner with OSU Energy Partners to implement and maintain Energy Conservation Measures.
Work closely with the deferred maintenance team to catalogue, prioritise, and address facility needs, and execute projects during summer and break periods to improve building comfort and cleanliness.
Manage the annual zone budget, monitor expenditures, and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
Lead training and development for frontline managers and shop staff, fostering mentorship and accountability.
Integrate environmental sustainability initiatives into daily operations and ensure compliance with university policies, including emergency preparedness.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in building maintenance, custodial services, and/or grounds operations, with proven customer‑engagement success.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, build collaborative work environments, and deliver exceptional customer service.
Valid driver’s licence.
Strongly Desired
At least 2 years of experience supervising or managing teams in building maintenance, custodial, and/or grounds operations.
Experience managing staff within a unionised environment.
Hands‑on technical experience as a maintenance mechanic, building‑operations trade professional, custodian, or groundskeeper.
Salary Information The target hiring range for this job profile is $103,000 – $134,500.
