We understand that management, performance objectives, and feeding practices can be vastly different between operations, and that these differences dictate specific nutritional or formulation requirements. Position Summary The Operations Supervisor oversees maintenance tasks and assists local management in the operation and processing of the facility, leading local maintenance and production teams.
Responsibilities & Duties
Oversee all maintenance initiatives and operational processes of the feed mill.
Implement Standard Operating Procedures, including training for production/processing and maintenance personnel.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities and equipment to identify improvement areas and ensure health and safety compliance.
Plan and schedule preventative and corrective maintenance work.
Coordinate production schedules, including hours of operation.
Ensure all maintenance work is documented and reported correctly utilizing computer‑based PM programs and daily plant reports, and participate in Teams meetings.
Assist with QA/QC programs, including FSMA compliance.
Assist in overseeing CAP EX projects.
Ensure timely ordering and receiving of ingredients for production needs by communicating daily and weekly ingredient needs to the Location Facility Manager and procurement team.
Ensure proper mixing of all feeds.
Assist in managing raw material inventories to ensure accurate measurements, control shrink, and maintain product in merchantable condition.
Monitor inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
Manage the maintenance budget to ensure cost efficiency while maintaining high equipment and facility standards.
Develop and maintain relationships with external contractors and suppliers to acquire high‑quality services and materials for maintenance projects.
Set and achieve production goals for efficiency and on‑time deliveries.
Coordinate feed delivery schedules with the Location Facility Manager and/or Production Manager and production team.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and reduce internal operational costs.
Respond promptly to emergency situations involving equipment breakdowns, mitigating potential hazards, and/or process interruptions.
Collaborate with other department leaders to safely and effectively complete maintenance tasks on time.
Educate, implement, and strictly enforce all LNC Safety and Compliance procedures and programs at the facility.
Ensure the facility appearance and all personnel represent LNC in a professional manner.
Perform any other tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor of Science degree; Agricultural, Mechanical, or Industrial degree paths preferred.
Root cause analysis (RCA).
Lean manufacturing principles.
Reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM).
Proficient in KPI tracking (MTTR, MTBF, PM compliance).
Strong sense of customer service with internal and external customers.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems and relevant maintenance techniques.
Ability to identify root causes of problems and implement effective solutions.
Dedication to a team environment.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast‑changing environment.
Ability to lead teams by example.
Safety‑oriented mindset; OSHA or similar training.
Basic understanding of GMPs in feed manufacturing.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and work efficiently under pressure.
Experience in developing, managing, and controlling budgets.
Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices to ensure a safe working environment.
