Senior Applications Engineer – Dallas, TX, U.S.
Salary: $120,000.00 – $150,000.00
The Senior Applications Engineer will play a key technical role in the design, integration, and deployment of EG4's energy storage and inverter solutions for commercial and industrial customers. This role bridges engineering, sales, and product teams, providing expert technical support from concept through commissioning.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of PV integration, inverter technologies, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across grid-tied, hybrid, and off‑grid configurations. This role provides technical leadership in system design, configuration, and deployment of advanced energy solutions that meet customer performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Support system commissioning, configuration, and troubleshooting for deployed ESS and hybrid energy systems.
Diagnose and resolve system performance issues using remote monitoring and on‑site support when required.
Act as the main technical liaison for EG4’s customers and the sales team during the pre‑sales process.
Develop and review electrical single‑line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, application documentation and system layouts.
Support compliance activities with NEC, IEEE, UL, and local interconnection standards.
Support C&I system architectures integrating PV arrays, EG4 inverters, and battery storage systems.
Collaborate with engineering and product teams to define system requirements and integration strategies.
Create and deliver technical training materials and sessions for internal teams (sales, support, new hires) and external customers/partners.
Perform system modeling, energy yield simulations, and storage sizing for commercial projects.
Optimize system performance through control strategies for load shifting, peak shaving, backup, and self‑consumption.
Gather and synthesize customer feedback and market trends to provide structured input to the R&D and product management teams, influencing future product development and improvements.
Stay current with evolving industry trends, technologies, regulations, and competitor activities to position company products effectively and provide informed guidance to stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or related discipline.
5+ years of experience in applications, systems, or project engineering within the solar and energy storage industry.
Strong understanding of inverters, BESS, and hybrid system integration.
Knowledge of UL standards, NFPA, NEC and other relevant standards for Inverter and BESS applications.
Strong collaboration and leadership skills, with an ability to mentor junior engineers and work effectively within cross‑functional teams.
Preferred
Master’s degree in electrical engineering, or related discipline.
Strong understanding of industry standards and communication protocols for Inverter and BESS applications (e.g., UL, IEEE, NEC, Modbus, CAN, TCP/IP).
Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP, MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent design tools.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
