Manager, Distribution & Transportation
Position Title: Manager, Distribution & Transportation
Role Overview This role leads day‑to‑day distribution and transportation activities supporting the movement of goods such as packaged products, equipment, and general delivery items. The Manager, Distribution & Transportation is a hands‑on operational leader responsible for coordinating deliveries, overseeing drivers and fleet activity, and ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient execution across routes and facilities.
The position is active in the field and works closely with drivers and operations staff to support service reliability, safety standards, and workforce engagement. Operations run primarily during the week, with some weekend support as needed.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Oversee daily distribution and transportation activities to ensure safe, timely, and accurate delivery of goods, equipment, and materials.
Maintain a visible field presence, including riding along with drivers to observe operations, support performance, and reinforce safety expectations.
Manage and continuously monitor driver training programs for both CDL and non‑CDL drivers, ensuring ongoing compliance, skill development, and safety awareness.
Supervise, coach, and support drivers and transportation staff, addressing performance, attendance, and conduct matters professionally and consistently.
Demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to problem‑solve operational and employee‑related issues independently, with minimal oversight.
Oversee fleet readiness, maintenance coordination, and required driver and vehicle documentation.
Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and applicable policies; investigate incidents and implement corrective actions as needed.
Conduct all interactions with professionalism and discretion, maintaining composure and credibility in all situations.
Build effective schedules, manage route coverage, and adjust plans based on operational needs.
Track operational performance, prepare reports, and maintain accurate documentation related to safety, compliance, training, and daily operations.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and strengthen overall transportation processes.
Assists with additional responsibilities in support of business needs.
Experience & Skills Required
3+ years of experience in transportation, delivery, logistics, or distribution operations.
At least 3 years of experience leading or overseeing employees.
Working knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance.
Familiarity with OSHA standards and inventory or material handling practices.
Ability to analyze operational data and performance metrics.
Strong communication, leadership, and coaching skills.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Comfortable using routing tools, GPS systems, and standard computer applications.
