Overview As a Capital One Data Engineer you will work on Hydra, a critical data transformation platform that powers capital and liquidity reporting in Finance Tech, building and maintaining data pipelines for regulatory and liquidity use cases.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions.
Work with developers experienced in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full stack systems.
Utilize Python, Java, SQL, NoSQL databases, and cloud‑based data warehousing services such as Snowflake.
Stay current on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and mentor others.
Collaborate with product managers to deliver robust cloud‑based solutions that help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment.
Perform unit tests and conduct code reviews to ensure high quality, performance, and maintainability.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
At least 3 years of application development experience (internship experience does not qualify).
At least 1 year of experience in big‑data technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years in application development with Python, SQL, Scala, PySpark.
2+ years with a public cloud (AWS).
3+ years experience with distributed computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, MySQL).
2+ years working on real‑time data and streaming applications.
2+ years with NoSQL implementations (Mongo, Cassandra).
2+ years data warehousing experience (Redshift or Snowflake).
3+ years UNIX/Linux experience, including shell scripting.
2+ years Agile engineering practices.

Compensation McLean, VA: $158,600 – $181,000 for Senior Data Engineer. Richmond, VA: $144,200 – $164,600 for Senior Data Engineer.
