Structural Design Engineer II – New Glenn Upper Stage & PA (Fixed Term) Join

as a Structural Design Engineer II. This 12–15 month fixed‑term position involves design, analysis, development and testing of primary and secondary structures for New Glenn Payload Accommodations hardware, including the larger diameter 8.7 m payload fairing and adapters.

Responsibilities

Design, analyse, develop and test primary and secondary structures, including composites, metallic parts and integrated assemblies.

Own the full life‑cycle of hardware from requirements definition through concept, design, analysis, testing, qualification and integration onto a launch vehicle.

Perform research, develop concepts and run trade studies.

Create 3‑D models, detailed part drawings, assemblies, installations and interface control documents.

Provide manufacturing and production support for your hardware.

Give technical guidance for integration and apply practical approaches to fabrication and cost impact.

Develop test plans, specifications and documentation for flight hardware.

Plan, coordinate, conduct tests and review test data.

Work with vertically integrated teams on materials and manufacturing processes.

Participate in the procurement of new equipment and tooling.

Maintain and report on activity schedule, budget and technical status.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. in engineering and 3+ years of experience with aircraft, spacecraft or launch vehicle structures.

Experience with aircraft/launch vehicle structure design areas such as load‑path distribution, skin‑stringer/isogrid/orthogrid/composite sandwich panels, and material selection/compatibility.

Structural design of composite and metallic components and assemblies.

Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3‑D CAD.

Familiarity with GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).

Desired Qualifications

Rapid application of structural mechanics principles with hand calculations and FEA.

Experience across the full design, test and production life cycle.

Proficiency with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or higher, Windchill 10.

Knowledge of composite design and fabrication considerations.

Familiarity with classical hand analysis methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark’s).

Experience with analysis codes such as Nastran, ANSYS, OptiStruct, Abaqus, HyperMesh, Hypersizer.

Compensation WA applicants: $96,310 – $134,833.65. Other region ranges may differ.
