About this role This opportunity is for a Software Development Manager who will manage and grow an engineering team for Audible’s Personalization (P13n) group.
It’s up to you to define, design and refine the tech that keeps us one step ahead of listeners.

Our mission is to help existing and potential customers in the discovery of Audible’s Content by surfacing contextually relevant, time‑sensitive, individualized, diverse and fresh recommendations throughout their journey on all surfaces and marketplaces.

As a Software Development Manager, you will…
Responsibilities
Lead the delivery of large cross-functional projects, spanning teams and divisions within Audible and Amazon
Collaborate to define core business objectives, ensuring efficient utilization of company resources for the best product, program, or project outcomes
Manage multiple projects from concept to launch, working with cross-functional teams including technology, business, and operations, even when faced with conflicting priorities
Contribute to the definition of technical architectures
Demonstrate technical expertise, attention to detail, and proactivity in identifying and resolving issues
Maintain consistent and transparent communication of project risks, progress, launches, and retrospectives to all stakeholders and teams
Continuously strive to improve project execution performance, setting new benchmarks using objective metrics
Actively mentor and develop junior team members, enhancing their skills, knowledge of our systems, and ability to achieve results

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related discipline
Experience leading software development teams
5+ years experience of software development and deployment of distributed multi‑tier applications
3+ years experience managing agile software projects across multiple teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Personalization technology
Experience in a variety of technologies and platforms such as Java/J2EE
Experience implementing solutions leveraging AWS capabilities
Experience leveraging machine learning models to deliver insights and enrich customer experiences
Be able to thrive in an ambiguous environment where change is the only constant
Strong verbal and communication skills
Strong analytical skills and an out‑of‑the‑box thinker
Self‑starter with the ability to multi‑task and work in a very fast paced environment
Track record of defining and delivering cross‑functional solutions that are innovative and extensible
Results oriented and with a strong customer focus
Highly autonomous
Strong mentor of peers and subordinates

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.
The base pay for this position ranges from $142,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $245,900/year in our highest geographic market.
Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Amazon is a total compensation company.
Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
