Overview:
As a Manager in the Power Markets team, you will provide strategic leadership and vision for power markets advisory consulting. You will oversee project delivery, mentor team members, and drive business development. Your expertise in market analysis, forecasting, production cost modeling, and stakeholder engagement will be critical to shaping the organization’s competitive positioning and thought leadership in the energy sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Shape and communicate the strategic vision for the power markets advisory team, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market trends.
Lead and oversee projects involving market analysis, production cost modeling (e.g., SCED), congestion and curtailment analysis, nodal price analysis, and revenue assessment of different technologies.
Cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, regulatory bodies, and partners.
Monitor and interpret evolving market structures, regulatory frameworks, and policy developments to identify risks and opportunities.
Champion the adoption of advanced analytics, automation, and digital tools to enhance forecasting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team, fostering an inclusive environment that supports professional growth.
Manage multiple projects with overlapping timelines, ensuring quality and consistency.
Drive business development by leading client interactions and developing proposals.
Deliver measurable business outcomes, including revenue growth and client satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
7+ years of experience in the North American electric power sector, including market analysis and forecasting.
2+ years of experience within a consulting organization focused on project planning, transmission planning, power flow analysis, data analytics, strategic analysis, or GIS modeling.
Experience leveraging production cost modeling tools (e.g., PROMOD, Plexos, or other Production Cost Models).
Experience with SCED, congestion and curtailment analysis, nodal price analysis, and transmission congestion studies.
Experience managing a team of technical analysts.
Preferred Skills
Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
Advanced proficiency with power flow assessment tools (e.g., PowerGEM TARA, GE-PSLF, PSS-E, PowerWorld).
Knowledge of major US market areas (ERCOT, PJM, ISONE, NYISO, MISO, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC).
Experience with financial analysis, asset valuation, or power plant development.
Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, asset valuation, and risk management.
Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Demonstrated adaptability and strategic thinking in dynamic market environments.
