Job Summary The Senior Solutions Architect’s role is to strategically design global application architectures that support multi-park needs while also satisfying the tailored needs of individual parks. This Senior Architect will work closely with application owners and other solution architects to design integrations with security, performance, reliability, reusability, scalability, and maintainability in mind. The Architect will also be involved in the design of new systems and critical platform and software applications, including cloud technologies, maintaining in-depth technical knowledge across Universal’s global portfolio and acting as a subject matter expert for other architects, delivery teams, and support teams. They will provide technical guidance over the implementation phase with cross‑functional Agile teams, recognize risk, work with vendors, and communicate with senior leadership. The Senior Architect mentors junior members, collaborates with cross‑functional teams (Product, Project Management, IT Security, Infrastructure, Data Architecture, Delivery), and influences strategic direction while possessing excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Major Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning – act as visionary and strategist for solution domain; design long‑term strategic goals and short‑term tactical plans; ensure alignment with Data Architecture and Enterprise Architecture; provide architectural expertise and direction; develop, document, and communicate plans for solution architecture investments; conduct research on emerging technologies; provide technical assessments; lead development of formalized solution methodologies; build and maintain repository.

Solution Design – architect, design/develop, and oversee implementation of Enterprise solutions; serve as domain expert; document and maintain solutions architecture; review and provide guidance on new and existing designs; interface and coordinate internal/external resources; collaborate with PMs, vendors, IT stakeholders; create business and system process models.

Technical Collaboration – confer with delivery teams, product team, senior management to refine requirements; collaborate on technical designs and resolve issues; participate in solution review board.

Environmental, Health & Safety – participate in responsibilities by following UO policy, procedures, training.

Other duties as assigned.

Education Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar (essential).

Experience

9+ years of IT experience with large integrated projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Extensive experience in developing strategic systems architecture and system design/development.

Repeatedly demonstrated ability to produce requirement artifacts: data flow diagrams, UML modeling techniques.

Expert level background in software development, API/SDK knowledge.

Technical architecture background covering networks, routers, switches, firewalls, BGP, caching, SANs, servers, operating systems.

Strong experience with reverse proxies, web servers, API gateways, SOA, web services (REST), microservices, service buses, security practices, database technologies.

Proven experience with NoSQL, SQL, in‑memory key value stores.

Demonstrable experience in solution architecture and integration solution design.

Additional Information This individual will understand vision, communicate technology solutions and roadmaps. Experience leading global enterprise engineering projects or teams is a plus. Familiarity with REST, Node.js, .NET, NoSQL, SQL, native mobile applications, eventing patterns, microservices. Self‑starter; ability to manage broad workload, accommodate change. Japanese language experience a plus.
