Scope of Work: A Waukesha Pearce Industries (WPI) Generator Tech Journeyman is expected to work on generators/transfer switches from oil changes to major repairs. Keep service truck, tools, and equipment in good working order. Assists with training of other technicians. Must be able to perform load testing, warranty repairs, and startups based off manufacturer’s requirements. Performs other duties as assigned by manager.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Performs maintenance and repairs on generators and associated controls

Completes service reports daily

Updates and reviews personal knowledge of all changes and variations of the generators and controls sold and serviced by WPI

Attends service schools and training programs offered by WPI

Willing to assist training of newly hired technicians

Perform weekly truck inspections as required

Must be able to research and put tougher quote information accurately for Product Support Rep

Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of 5 years previous experience

G.E.D. or High School Diploma

Must be able to work and learn from others

Must have a mechanical and/or electrical aptitude

Must have an aptitude to learn to read simple wiring schematics and learn to wire circuits

Must be able to supply your own tools

Trade school or special training preferred

Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Must have a working knowledge of the above titled position and how it relates to the overall business and its objectives

Must meet goals and objectives set forth by the company

Must conform to company policies and procedures set forth by the company

Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per WPI requirements

Must be able to pass and maintain drug and alcohol testing requirements as outlined by WPI

Must be computer literate, a Windows based environment preferred (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook)

Must be able to lift 50 lbs., bend and twist several times daily

Must be able to work on generators/engines from oil changes to major repairs

Must maintain the service truck, tools, and equipment in good working order

Must have the ability to work flexible hours and days

Must be dependable and able to work independently

Must be always courteous and maintain good client relations

Must promote and maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment

Must meet minimum performance standards for all assignments

Must protect the company assets and interests

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

Typical hours of work Monday through Friday; 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Overtime and weekend hours as necessary.

Outside work.

Continued employment in the position of Generator Tech Journeyman and future advancement will be contingent on your ability to learn from WPI and manufacturer sponsored training classes. Failure to complete and pass these training classes could prevent future advancement.
