The University of Iowa Health Care department of Environmental Services is seeking a Custodian Services Supervisor on second shift to coordinate, supervise, and inspect the work activities of custodians in accordance with established guidelines. This position is scheduled to work the 2nd shift (5:00 p.m. – 1:30 a.m.) with rotating weekends and holidays. Starting salary is $18.72/hour. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Interview and effectively recommend hiring, evaluate employee performance, and recommend disciplinary actions, promotions, merit increases, and termination.

Develop work schedules and direct the daily work routine of custodial employees.

Train and orient new employees; conduct formal training sessions to improve employee knowledge and skills.

Schedule and approve vacation of employees.

Inspect all areas of assignment and complete inspection reports.

Evaluate, test, and recommend new supplies and equipment.

Coordinate relocation of furniture and equipment and movement to and from repair shops and storage.

Oversee assembly and delivery of new equipment and removal of equipment from inventory.

Coordinate and oversee custodial functions that meet specialized departmental needs using specialized knowledge of environmental conditions, linen requirements, medical records, and proper decontamination procedures.

Maintain inventory of linen and record of linen laundering; maintain inventory of custodial supplies and keep and prepare other records and reports as directed.

Assist in planning procedures and work methods and revise or recommend revisions to improve efficiency of operations and services.

Be responsible for reporting damage and other irregularities requiring attention or repair.

Act on requests and complaints from departments related to custodial services.

This position is performed fully on campus.

Regular salaried position located in Iowa City, Iowa.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements Two years of custodial experience or related building and facilities maintenance, including supervisory experience for a minimum of six months. Supervision includes assigning daily work activities, inspecting and monitoring quality of work, and scheduling and coordinating work activities.
