Soccer, Boys Pooled Positions – Loudoun County Public Schools High school Rock Ridge, soccer coaching position. Season runs Spring, February - May.

Responsibilities As Head Coach

Assist in maintaining high academic standards for all student athletes.

Assist the athletic director and principal in the hiring and/or retention of assistant coaches.

Direct, supervise, and evaluate regularly the performance of all assistant coaches of the sport.

Cooperate with the athletic director to assure proper insurance coverage for all athletes.

Cooperate with other head athletic coaches to run a well‑balanced athletic program.

Foster an appreciation of athletics, a desire to win, good sportsmanship, and pride in self, team, school, and community among participants and spectators.

Direct the training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity team and assist the assistant coaches with their assigned teams.

Act as a positive influence on the behavior of staff and teams.

Be present and personally direct the team at all varsity contests; be present at as many junior varsity and freshmen contests as possible and supervise athletes at meets or post‑season competition.

Advise the athletic director on schedule preparation for the sport.

Advise the athletic director on selection and performance evaluations of officials.

Recommend equipment and supplies needed, inventory and care of equipment.

Advise the athletic director of athletic facility condition and maintenance needs.

Assist in ensuring lists of all players eligible for contests are prepared and maintained under VHSL rules.

Recommend removal of athletes from teams if training or eligibility regulations are unmet.

Ensure all athletes have passed medical examinations before the regular practice season begins.

Organize a system for encouraging students to try out, recruit equipment managers, score keepers, statisticians, ball runners, etc.

Collect and keep records, statistics, news items, and photographs for the teams under supervision.

Recommend students who qualify for a varsity letter or junior varsity/freshman certificate.

Recommend prospective coaches upon request.

Observe sub‑varsity practices and games.

Perform other duties related to the position as requested by the high school principal and/or athletic director.

As Assistant Coach

Work cooperatively with the head coach to run a well‑structured program.

Work cooperatively with the athletic department.

Attend all staff meetings prescribed by the head coach during the season.

Carry out duties designated by the head coach.

Recommend equipment and supplies needed for the program.

Recommend disciplinary actions for players violating training rules and procedures.

Foster among athletes a desire to win, good sportsmanship, personal pride, and pride for the school and community.

Perform other duties related to the assistant coach position as requested by the principal and/or athletic director.

Qualifications

Coaching experience or participation in the sport at high school or college level.

Completion of CPR and First Aid training or enrollment in a current CPR and First Aid training course.

Preferred experience as a teacher or classified employee in LCPS.

Preferred status as a Virginia teaching license candidate or a full‑time classified employee for LCPS.
