About The Role At Uber, we’re committed to accelerating the transition to autonomous vehicles (AV). The Global AV Infrastructure team plays a pivotal role in expanding infrastructure access to support Uber’s ambitious autonomous and electrification goals. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Design Manager to join our team to lead the design and site readiness phases of EV charging projects, ensuring they are delivered on schedule and within budget.
What You’ll Do
Manage projects comprehensively from conceptual design through permitting, utility upgrades and contractor selection; maintaining quality, budget, and timelines.
Develop EV charging station designs, ensuring alignment of internal site specifications with utility standards and AHJ requirements.
Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams and general contractors to drive efficient project execution and compliance with negotiated agreements.
Proactively identify and resolve on‑site project challenges, ensuring continuous progress and adherence to project timelines.
Track project progress and regularly report to stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of experience in design management, construction management, or related fields.
Proven track record of managing end‑to‑end design, contractor selection, and construction of fast‑charging electric vehicle infrastructure projects on time and on budget.
Proficiency in design and project management software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Procore, or similar.
Capable of interpreting and applying AC and DC power systems, including transformers, circuit protection, and single‑line electrical and mechanical diagrams.
Bachelor’s degree in design, civil/electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of experience in design management, construction management or related fields.
Strong understanding of construction processes (RFIs, contracts, schedules), methods, and codes; electrical contractor experience a plus.
Exceptional project management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Self‑starter with the ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
Salary and Benefits
Atlanta, GA: $162,000–$180,000 per year
Austin, TX: $162,000–$180,000 per year
Dallas, TX: $162,000–$180,000 per year
Houston, TX: $162,000–$180,000 per year
Miami, FL: $162,000–$180,000 per year
New York, NY: $180,000–$200,000 per year
Orlando, FL: $162,000–$180,000 per year
Washington, DC: $180,000–$200,000 per year
All US locations: eligible for Uber’s bonus program and may receive equity awards and other compensation. Additional benefits are available; see https://www.uber.com/careers/benefits.
