Responsibilities
Protect the principal against possible threats.
Perform federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, security equipment monitoring, roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal property.
Monitor surveillance cameras for any disruptions or unlawful activities.
Provide detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents that may have occurred.
Possess knowledge and effectively use magnetometer and X‑ray machines.
Use provided communication devices, such as two‑way radios, in a clear and concise manner.
Leverage excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures.
Perform CPR or first aid when needed.
Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements.
Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager.
Minimum Requirements
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Be a United States citizen or a lawful permanent resident qualified as a member of or with an honorable discharge from any component of the United States Armed Forces.
Be issued a Social Security Card bearing the individual name and social security number.
Have a minimum of two (2) years of armed security experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full‑duty status with a full‑service police department.
Have a minimum of two (2) years as a member of any US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge.
Fluently speak, read, and comprehend English and be able to compose written reports in English.
Be able to qualify with a revolver or semi‑automatic.
Possess strong relevant knowledge of the security industry.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Possess a customer service‑driven mindset.
Ability to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers.
Physical Demands
PSOs shall be physically able to perform tasks in the performance of assigned duties.
Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day, either indoors or outdoors.
Frequent contact with the general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center, requiring an ability to speak clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situations.
Ability to remain on post for up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or receiving a break.
Ability to remain alert for up to 12 hours, with the ability to react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situations.
Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals or intervene in a crisis.
Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs.
