Summary The Clemson Child Development Center (CCDC) is a non‑profit early learning center dedicated to the highest standards in child care and education. Licensed by the SC Department of Social Services (DSS) and accredited by the SC ABC Quality Rating and Improvement System (ABC QRIS), we comply fully with SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) regulations and with the Children and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). CCDC seeks a visionary, results‑driven, compassionate

leader

to serve as Program Director.

Duties Primary Responsibilities

Lead and manage all programmatic aspects of the early learning center.

Design, implement, and evaluate curriculum across all classrooms.

Oversee staff development, onboarding, and performance evaluation.

Coordinate family engagement, community outreach, and special events.

Maintain regulatory compliance with state licensing, ABC Quality, and CACFP standards.

Collaborate with the Executive Director and board to set organizational goals.

Compliance and Safety

Ensure compliance with all state child care licensing regulations (SC DSS, DHEC).

Maintain CACFP requirements for Teacher Meal Service/Playground records.

Adhere to SC ABC Quality staff‑to‑child ratio and conduct regular ratio checks.

Coordinate regulatory visits and inspections.

Conduct monthly fire and quarterly tornado drills.

Maintain accurate, confidential documentation and report environmental issues.

Monitor equipment, furniture, and teaching supplies and respond to emergencies.

Operational Support

Manage daily schedules and classroom coverage.

Coordinate special events and activities.

Collaborate with the Executive Director on program planning.

Address day‑to‑day program issues and concerns.

Educational Program Management

Oversee classroom operations and educational quality.

Ensure consistent implementation of curriculum across classrooms.

Use child assessments to improve programming.

Maintain compliance with SC ABC Quality and SC DSS licensing standards.

Staff Leadership and Development

Supervise curriculum implementation for First Steps 4K classrooms.

Design and deliver teacher onboarding and orientation programs.

Provide ongoing mentoring during new teacher 90‑day integration.

Coordinate instructional coaching and curriculum‑specific training.

Lead staff meetings, training sessions, and mandatory professional development.

Ensure required staff training, certifications, and performance evaluation.

Facilitate integration of teachers into the CCDC culture.

New Teacher Development and Integration

Develop structured onboarding timelines.

Train teachers in developmentally appropriate practices and Conscious Discipline.

Support new teachers in building positive relationships with children and families.

Monitor progress and provide additional coaching.

Coordinate coaching opportunities with Instructional Coaches.

Family and Community Engagement

Build positive relationships with families and supervise communication.

Plan and coordinate parent events and workshops aligned with ABC Quality Family Involvement standards.

Communicate regularly about child progress.

Address parent concerns professionally.

Additional Responsibilities

Complete required DSS and ABC mandatory training; maintain current certifications.

Plan and coordinate program special events and parent workshops.

Maintain current knowledge of early childhood best practices.

Attend monthly CCDC Board of Directors meetings and present Program Report.

Other leadership duties as aligned with program goals and organizational needs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (Master's preferred).

Knowledge of state licensing requirements and ABC Quality standards.

Strong communication and leadership skills.

Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.

Experience working in a play‑based environment.

Ability to work in an active, highly mobile position.

Willingly follow guidance from Executive Director.

Clear full background check and health screening per SC DSS requirements.

Physical ability to lift and move children, including lifting up to 30 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (preferred).

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in early childhood education with at least 3 years in leadership roles.

Experience leading program leadership in licensed childcare settings.

Experience with ABC Quality standards and DSS/DHEC regulations.

Familiarity with Creative Curriculum for Infants & Toddlers/Preschool, SCPITC, Conscious Discipline, and Handwriting Without Tears.

Track record of leading staff development and professional growth initiatives.
