Position Overview Kiewit Power Engineering Group is seeking an experienced-level Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to be a part of our growing team. Looking for ideal candidates that can provide instrumentation & control discipline technical expertise as well as I&C team leadership for the execution and evaluation of project designs. Project assignments range from support of proposals and estimates to technical design execution to construction and commissioning support.

Our combined staff of more than 1,300 engineers and design professionals have expertise that spans all major engineering disciplines to serve transportation, power, water/wastewater, mining, building, and oil, gas & chemical markets.
Our rapidly growing Power district includes structural, civil, piping, mechanical, process, process safety, electrical, instrument and control disciplines, and is a multi-faceted division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the EPC delivery model for power facilities.
We offer a variety of engineering services across North America including gas‑fired generation, power delivery, environmental retrofits, renewables and new technology, and water/wastewater.
Location Based in any of: Lenexa, KS; Lone Tree, CO; Houston, TX; Raleigh, NC; Phoenix/Tempe, AZ; New York City, NY; Woodcliff Lake, NJ. For roles in Chattanooga, TN; Detroit, MI; or Richmond, VA, the position will start remotely and transition to a hybrid/in‑office arrangement once the new office is established.
Responsibilities
Lead or support engineer on projects providing technical solutions for SCADA system replacement/upgrades and other I&C projects.
Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques for all project sizes and complexities.
Incorporate contract and customer RFPs and professional service agreements to ensure projects meet or exceed goals.
Contribute to client proposals and project cost estimates; lead cost, feasibility, and planning studies.
Develop and apply departmental design methods, engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines for design calculations, drawings, and specifications.
Formulate technical specifications, perform bid evaluations, and interface with construction partners and suppliers.
Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with project personnel.
Perform supplier shop drawing reviews and technical contract administration.
Mentor entry and mid‑level employees, providing coaching and direction.
Coordinate with internal and external partners on electrical/I&C‑related design concepts and issues.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical or Controls Engineering from an ABET accredited four‑year college or university.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.
At least 5 years’ experience in instrumentation and controls engineering design with at least 3 years in the power generation market.
Familiarity with control system programming concepts.
Experience with SCADA systems and PLC. DCS system experience considered desirable.
Strong organizational, time management, written, and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail, strong work ethic, and willingness to deliver results.
Displays leadership and confidence to mentor peers.
Working Conditions
Regular, reliable attendance; meet deadlines; effective communication and professionalism.
Work safely, follow instructions, and adhere to policies.
Work within normal operating hours; overtime and weekends as required.

Base Compensation:
$103,000/yr – $108,000/yr (actual compensation subject to variation based on education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
