Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Director‑Level Data Governance Consultant to join our Cybersecurity and Technology Advisory practice. This role is ideal for a practitioner who combines strong business acumen with hands‑on technical expertise in data governance frameworks, data privacy, and information risk management. The consultant will deliver advisory services to growth‑stage and middle‑market organizations, supporting initiatives that strengthen data integrity, regulatory compliance, and enterprise cybersecurity posture. The ideal candidate thrives in client‑facing environments and is adept at bridging technical requirements with executive‑level strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Assess client data management and governance capabilities, identifying maturity gaps and improvement opportunities.

Design and implement practical data governance frameworks aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements (e.g., NIST Privacy Framework, HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA).

Develop data classification models, stewardship processes, and governance policies that integrate with cybersecurity and IT controls.

Support data lifecycle management, risk assessments, and compliance readiness engagements alongside cybersecurity and privacy teams.

Provide advisory support to clients on data quality, retention, access management, and information asset inventories.

Partner with senior consultants and subject matter experts to develop deliverables including operating models, policy documentation, and roadmap strategies.

Contribute to knowledge sharing, client proposals, and thought leadership content around emerging data governance trends.

Leverage professional network to drive revenue.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.

Professional certification such as CDMP, CIPP, CIPM, or CGEIT.

5+ years of experience in data governance, information management, or risk and compliance consulting.

Familiarity with regulatory and standards‑based frameworks such as NIST 800‑53, ISO 27001, COBIT, DAMA‑DMBOK, or DGI Data Governance Framework.

Understanding of cybersecurity, privacy, and IT risk management principles and how they intersect with enterprise data programs.

Experience designing policies and procedures for data classification, retention, and access control.

Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex ideas to business and technical audiences.

Compensation Annual base salary gross: $150,000–$175,000. The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end of Hilco’s salary for this position based on geography. Actual base salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. The base pay is one component of Hilco’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards and benefits include cash bonuses, long‑term incentives, health insurance, accident and life insurance, and retirement benefits.
