Base pay range $21.45/hr - $32.20/hr

Major Responsibilities

Assists physicians and registered nurses in providing technical care of the patients by performing phlebotomy, transporting patients, placing patients in cardiac and vital sign monitors, wound care, Foley catheter insertions, and obtaining lab specimens. May perform IV starts if allowed by state regulations.

Documents information/procedures and promptly communicates observations, concerns, and needs of the patient to the registered nurse.

Processes daily patient charges and/or related procedures through the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Collaborates with physicians to support required communications to facilitate patient care. Coordinates and facilitates all forms of communications (phone, verbal, paging, electronic, fax, and EMS system).

Maintains a clean and safe working environment following department safety policies and standard precautions.

Monitors equipment and troubleshoots minor problems; arranges repair of major malfunctions.

Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling while using proper technique.

Must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to patient age, understanding growth principles across the lifespan and assessing data reflective of patient status to identify age-specific needs.

Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required

Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry in which the TM practices.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic license issued through national registry or by the state.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic Intravenous license issued through national registry or by the state.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Intermediate license issued through national registry or by the state.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Paramedic license issued through national registry or by the state.

Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant.

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 6 months unless the department leader determines it is not required.

Education Required

High School Graduate.

Experience Required

Typically requires 1 year experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Basic computer skills and ability to work with the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and their families.

Must maintain skill and recertification as required by regulation and organization.

Ability to effectively manage time and priorities.

High level of attention to detail.

Certification Addendum.

Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications (e.g., DNV, CARF, or others).

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shift.

Must lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, up to 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs over a reasonable distance.

Push/pull with 30 lbs of force.

Perform sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.

Use foot pedals on carts or machines.

Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and blood and body fluids hazards continuously.

Wear gloves, goggles, and gowns as needed.

Must have functional sight and hearing.

Operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
