Entry Level Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) Designer – UX, Interaction & Systems Thinking
Trademarkia® is seeking an
Entry Level Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) Designer
to work directly with the CEO on designing mission‑critical user experiences at the intersection of law, AI, automation, and consumer‑facing software. This role has a high bar. We are specifically looking for candidates with an
exceptional Figma UX portfolio
that demonstrates deep interaction thinking, clarity of reasoning, and strong execution, not just visual polish. This is not a role for decorators or template‑driven designers. You will be designing interfaces where clarity, trust, and error prevention directly impact real‑world legal and financial outcomes. What You’ll Work On
High‑stakes consumer and professional workflows used at scale AI‑assisted forms, guided decision systems, and disclosure flows Complex onboarding and conversion experiences Internal tools for attorneys, marketers, and operations teams Interfaces where cognitive load, sequencing, and feedback matter more than aesthetics Key Responsibilities
Design end‑to‑end interaction flows for complex, multi‑step user journeys. Translate ambiguous goals into clear, intuitive interface behavior. Apply core HCI principles: Cognitive load management Affordances, constraints, and feedback Error prevention and recovery Progressive disclosure Mental model alignment Design experiences that guide users confidently through legally sensitive decisions. UX Design & Prototyping (Figma‑Centric)
Produce high‑quality wireframes, interaction states, and prototypes in Figma. Demonstrate mastery of: Component systems Auto layout Variants and interaction states Responsive design Design with engineering implementation in mind. Iterate quickly based on feedback, metrics, and real usage. Research, Validation & Iteration
Conduct lightweight usability testing and heuristic evaluations. Review analytics, session recordings, and user feedback. Identify friction points and propose concrete design solutions. Defend design decisions with reasoning grounded in HCI principles. Systems Thinking & Collaboration
Work directly with the CEO on product and UX decisions. Collaborate closely with engineers, attorneys, and marketing teams. Design scalable systems rather than one‑off screens. Portfolio Requirement (Non‑Negotiable)
Applicants must submit an exceptional Figma UX portfolio. Your portfolio should clearly show: Thoughtful interaction design and user flow reasoning Complex workflows, not just static screens Clear explanations of why decisions were made Attention to edge cases, errors, and user confusion Strong execution quality in Figma Portfolios that are primarily visual, Dribbble‑style, or template‑based will not be considered. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or final year) in HCI, Interaction Design, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Computer Science, or related field. Strong grounding in human–computer interaction and UX principles. Advanced proficiency in Figma. Ability to articulate design decisions clearly and rigorously. Willingness to work in person in Mountain View, California. Preferred Qualifications
Coursework or projects involving usability testing or cognitive psychology. Experience designing complex forms, onboarding flows, or decision systems. Interest in AI‑assisted UX, voice interfaces, or automation. Familiarity with analytics or usability tools. Demonstrated ability to iterate based on data and feedback. What We Offer
Direct mentorship and daily collaboration with the CEO. Real ownership over UX decisions in production systems. Exposure to rare UX challenges involving law, trust, and AI. Rapid professional growth for exceptional performers. Long‑term career trajectory within Trademarkia. Ideal Candidate
Exceptionally strong in Figma and interaction design Focused on clarity, reasoning, and user cognition Comfortable defending decisions with logic and evidence Self‑directed and comfortable with responsibility Motivated to build serious, real‑world UX systems
