Senior Wireless Network Engineer Our Health Insurance client is seeking a Senior Wireless Network Engineer who will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) across Cisco, Aruba, and Meraki wireless infrastructure environments. This individual will be responsible for handling complex escalations, driving root cause analysis, improving wireless performance, and guiding the team on best practices. The ideal candidate is both highly technical and an excellent communicator who can confidently interface with internal teams and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities Wireless Engineering & Escalation Support
Serve as the primary technical lead and SME for Cisco, Aruba, and Meraki wireless environments.
Handle tier3/tier4 wireless network escalations, providing rapid analysis and remediation.
Lead complex troubleshooting efforts, including RF design issues, roaming problems, controller failures, and authentication problems (802.1X, RADIUS, NAC).
Network Operations & Optimization
Monitor wireless network performance, identify chronic issues, and deliver long-term solutions.
Recommend improvements to coverage, capacity, security, and infrastructure standards.
Oversee wireless controller upgrades, configuration changes, and architecture improvements.
Ensure alignment with enterprise security, compliance, and change management processes.
Communicate effectively with cross functional teams- including Infrastructure, Security, and Service Desk- to guide issue resolution.
Engage directly with vendors (Cisco TAC, HPE/Aruba Support, Meraki Support) to drive escalated tickets to resolution.
Translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable updates for both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
Maintain documentation of wireless configurations, architecture diagrams, and SOPs.
Mentor junior engineers and provide knowledge transfer to operations teams.
Contribute to the development of wireless design standards and best practices.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience supporting enterprise wireless environments.
Deep expertise with:
Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC), Catalyst, AireOS, Catalyst 9800
Aruba Mobility Controllers, ClearPass, AirWave / Central
Cisco Meraki wireless platforms and dashboard configuration
Strong understanding of:
802.11 standards
Authentication (WPA2/3Enterprise, 802.1X, RADIUS)
Hands‑on experience with wireless tools (Ekahau, AirMagnet, NetScout, etc.).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for vendor conversations and internal team interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant certifications such as:
Cisco CCNP Enterprise Wireless
Aruba ACMP / ACCX
CWNA, CWDP, CWSP
Prior experience in healthcare or regulated enterprise environments.
Experience with network automation or scripting (Python, Ansible) is a plus.
