Location: Le Méridien New York, Central Park – a flagship property in Midtown Manhattan.

Overview The Housekeeping Manager ensures the daily operation of the Housekeeping Department with an emphasis on guest service, cleanliness, safety, expense management and service level maximization.

Responsibilities

Maintain a friendly, courteous, and helpful attitude toward guests, managers, and staff.

Respond to guest requests, complaints, and incidents promptly and follow up to guarantee satisfaction.

Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline Housekeeping personnel in accordance with Highgate Hotel SOPs.

Enforce Standard of the Week training procedures.

Schedule and supervise cleaning programs (floor care, hard cleaning, mattress flipping, etc.) and keep detailed checklists.

Control housekeeping equipment and ensure compliance with corporate Risk Management standards.

Manage large guestroom turns efficiently and maintain opening/closing procedures.

Carry a pager at all times and use pagers and radios professionally.

Conduct pre‑shift meetings for room attendants and housemen and attend weekly staff meetings.

Monitor work orders, coordinate with Engineering, and follow up for completion.

Assist the Director of Housekeeping in inspecting VIP rooms and maintaining public areas to Highgate standards.

Maintain supply orders, conduct monthly/quarterly inventories, and oversee lost‑and‑found procedures.

Record all valet laundry, verify room status, and ensure supplies are stored and issued securely.

Complete regular maintenance and cleaning projects on a biannual basis and monitor guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field; or a 4‑year college degree; or a 2‑year college degree with 1 or more years of related experience.

Supervisory experience required.

Proficiency in Windows, spreadsheets, and word processing.

Long hours sometimes required; medium work (exert up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; courteous and service‑oriented at all levels.

Effective multitasker capable of prioritizing departmental functions to meet deadlines.

Strong listening skills and problem‑solving abilities.

Maintain regular attendance, personal appearance, grooming, and nametag compliance.

Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to support safe and efficient operations.

Maximize productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.

Ability to understand and evaluate complex information from multiple sources.
