Position is responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing the sports program. Position assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques. Faith, Community, and Dominican Charism
Ensure that the four pillars of a Dominican education (prayer, study, community, preaching) are developed and promoted throughout the program Develop an active faith community and model Christian values. Support prayer and spiritual formation within the student, faculty/staff, and parent communities. Uphold and implement the Dominican charism and the Houston Dominican Sisters’ congregational goals. Demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion by honoring the dignity of each member of the St. Agnes Academy community. Main Responsibilities
Ensures that the four pillars of a Dominican education (prayer, study, community, preaching) are developed and promoted throughout the program Models Christian values and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators Assists the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport Organizes, directs, and supervises individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach Assesses player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of students Assists with determining game strategy Assists the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury; communicates regularly with the athletic trainer in the rehabilitation of athletes Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach Participates in special activities to include Open House, Athletic Awards Night, pep rallies, 9th grade registration, etc. Performs support tasks such as equipment inventory, distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities while instructing, guiding, and motivating students to be successful on and off the field Attends all coaches meetings, staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance Attends staff development meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance Encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard Performs any other related duties as assigned by the head coach, Director of Athletics, & Principal or other appropriate administrator Qualifications
Minimum of 60 completed college hours Bachelor’s degree is preferred Must have previous coaching and/or playing experience at the high school varsity level or higher Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, coaches and students Completion of Safe Haven training Work Environment

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This role routinely uses sports related activity equipment. Both indoor and outdoor practice and game locations will be used. Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit at desk area, communicate via phone/face to face, manually input data into a computer, walk to different office areas, reach with hands and arms, and lifting a minimum of 25 lbs. Driving the team to and from practice and games. Lifting and carrying sports equipment. Prolonged standing. Outdoor practice and games. Weather temperature. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
