Primary Purpose Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of associates.
Daily management of labor (expected live) and coaching associates to achieve productivity expectations.
Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.
Support achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
Maintain an enthusiastic, customer‑focused environment emphasizing fast, friendly service to create a positive shopping experience.
Role model outstanding customer service and use knowledge of department products to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers’ expectations.
Control store expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment.
Utilize company tools such as ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems.
Perform duties ensuring department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation are consistently maintained.
Write schedules to provide excellent customer service; update schedules every other week.
Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of merchandise follows policies and guidelines.
Identify and correct unsafe conditions to prevent associate or customer accidents.
Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and record and report all accidents per Food Lion procedures.
Monitor shrink to maintain inventory accuracy; coach associates to prevent losses.
Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials applicable to the Deli Bakery HMS.
Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and standard practices; maintain security standards.
Maintain a neat, well‑groomed personal appearance and comply with dress code.
Successfully complete required training courses (CBT, Training Packet, Training Aid).
Met physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A high school graduate or equivalent (preferred).
Ability to lead and manage a team.
Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques (preferred).
Effective communication, customer service and selling skills.
Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or a similar organization as a Certified Food Safety Manager, or be willing to attend company‑provided training and achieve accreditation within the first 90 days; accreditation must be maintained while employed.
Physical Requirements
Ability to use computers and communication systems.
Ability to push or pull up to 2000 pounds using a pallet jack.
Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally; pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
Stand 100% of the time with frequent short walks.
Be able to handle cleaning and packaging materials, household cleaners.
Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level, occasionally above shoulder or below waist.
Meet established volume activity standards.
Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.
Have sufficient visual ability to check invoices and written documents.
