Pathology Assistant Location: Philadelphia, PA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,896 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Pathologists Assistant Profession: Pathology Assistant Specialty: Lab Histology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 2 years Description: Maintains accession records according to established procedures. Correctly accessions, labels, fixes, and directs specimens received in the gross room. Determines when and what action is required to ensure accuracy in the processing of surgical pathology specimens. Performs grossing with description and dissection that is clear, concise, and complete. Enhances efficiency, production, and output with appropriate task prioritization. Ensures specimen receipt with identification verification procedures. Evaluates specimen condition while maintaining specimen integrity. Coordinates accession activities with clerical staff along with other professional staff. Performs quality audits as required. Ensures that proper supplies are available and maintains a clean, sterile working area. Keeps supplies at acceptable levels. Maintains instruments at top performance. Performs preventive maintenance according to manufacturer’s recommendations and departmental policy. Performs duties in an independent manner. Recognizes and performs duties that need to be completed. Regularly assists others. Willingly accepts and performs new or additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor. Consistently reports any suggestions or positive changes to departmental policies or procedures to the supervisor. Strives to always use time effectively. Works well with supervisors and those in authority. Establishes a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all members of the laboratory. Maintains a positive rapport with medical staff and other personnel. Communicates in a highly professional manner at all times. Complies with safety requirements. Reports hazards to the appropriate office or supervisor when found. Completes mandatory in-services on or before the due date. Responsible for maintaining adequate staffing on all shifts, weekends, and holidays. Performs duties in accordance with established values, policies, and procedures.
