Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) – Job Description

You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations.
Responsibilities
Determine donor eligibility to donate plasma and manage donor adverse events.
Conduct review of laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
Manage informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self‑exclusion; interview medical history and perform physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
Evaluate donor reactions and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician standing orders and arrangements for donor transport to emergency care facilities.
Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs with unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance, including donor safety and eligibility issues.
Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by Occupational Health/ER, following EHS guidance.
Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to local pandemic threats.
Qualifications
High school diploma or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned as an EMT‑Paramedic.
Current CPR and AED certification.
Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Compensation and Benefits Summary Location:
USA – NC – Charlotte
Hourly Wage Range:
$22.04 – $30.31
