Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Registered Nurse on our Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgical Acute Care Unit, you will be responsible for delivering excellence in patient care by assessing, formulating nursing diagnoses, establishing goals, planning and implementing interventions, and evaluating patient care outcomes. With the staff nurse’s professional practice, you are responsible for participating in and maintaining quality, cost‑effectiveness, and guest relations.
29‑bed cardiovascular and thoracic surgical acute care unit.
Primary patient population consists of postoperative patients who have undergone Bentall, repair of aneurysms in the ascending and descending thoracic aorta, carotid endarterectomies, femoral popliteal bypass, extrapleural pneumonectomy, esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, and amputations.
Secondary patient populations include pre‑surgical, postoperative cardiovascular aorto‑coronary bypass, thoracotomies, and medical cardiology or dysrhythmia patients.
The floor has a central telemetry monitoring system with the capability to monitor 29 patients and VATS, TAVR TGVAR.
Job Requirements
Associates Degree in Nursing or Diploma (required)
Bachelor’s in Nursing (preferred)
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas (required)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (required)
Minimum of one (1) year of RN experience (required)
