Schedule: Full-time, 12-hr shifts | Call / holiday rotation as needed
About the role Provide professional, compassionate nursing care across Pre-Op, PACU, and recovery units for surgical / procedural patients. You’ll coordinate with anesthesia, surgeons, and perioperative teammates to deliver safe, efficient care that meets ASPAN standards—while supporting our culture of teamwork, quality, and patient experience.
What you’ll do
Complete thorough pre-operative assessments (physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety / risk) and optimize patients for surgery, including medication reconciliation, consent verification, and patient / family education.
Prepare patients for anesthesia (IV starts, labs / diagnostics as needed, surgical site and NPO verification).
Provide PACU care : airway management, hemodynamic / respiratory monitoring, pain and PONV management, Aldrete scoring, and safe progression to discharge or inpatient transfer.
Collaborate and communicate with anesthesia, surgeons, and perioperative staff to individualize plans of care and meet patient goals.
Serve as charge RN on occasion; precept / mentor as assigned; float within Pre-Op / PACU areas as needed.
Qualifications Required
Current RN license in the State of Arizona (or compact).
BLS (AHA).
ACLS (AHA)
PALS (AHA)
1+ year recent experience in Pre-Op, PACU, ICU, ED, or Telemetry / Step-Down
Competence in IV insertion, EKG recognition, and post-anesthesia recovery.
Strong airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and patient-education skills.
Nice to have
Experience coordinating fast-paced, same-day surgical throughput.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-first environment.
