Overview Texas Oncology is looking for a

Certified Medical Assistant

to join our team! This position will support the Plano Presbyterian location. Typical hours are Mon‑Fri from 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. The position will be a level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience. What Does the Certified Medical Assistant Do? Under direct supervision, the Certified Medical Assistant assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Responsibilities include promoting efficient patient flow and patient care for exams and procedures, performing clinic support tasks, answering phones, and maintaining physicians’ schedules. The role adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.

Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.

Obtain all necessary patient records required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures.

Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.

Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.

Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.

Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.

Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.

Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.

Inform physician of patient reschedules and no‑shows.

Perform other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.

May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision.

Qualifications Level 1

High school graduate or equivalent.

Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.

0–3 years experience as a medical or nursing assistant.

Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.

Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

Some state regulations may require specific certifications for the role.

Level 2

Minimum three years experience as a medical or nursing assistant.

Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

Level Sr

Minimum five years experience as a medical or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.

Current CPR certification required.
