Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Ultrasound Technician. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for performing diagnostic sonographic examinations using ultrasonic equipment in various modes and techniques to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data. The technician operates ultrasound equipment to produce quality images; performs studies in required modalities. The technician provides training and guidance to Ultrasound Technology students.
Job Responsibilities
Demonstrates knowledge of the hospital and radiology information systems, selects patient information from HIS/RIS in accordance with HIPAA, schedules exams, enters appointment times, types of exam, and patient reports, and follows departmental HIS/RIS procedures to ensure orders are verified and processed correctly.
Follows accepted radiologic procedures, consults policy and reference materials, and ensures actions conform to established protocols. Follows special instructions on radiographic requisitions and recognizes the need for isolation precautions.
Independently implements patient procedures per departmental protocols, explains the procedure and equipment to patients, solves problems during examinations, and alters examination to maximize information. Confers with other technologists regarding previous approaches.
Demonstrates skill in equipment set‑up, utilization, and proper maintenance, performs visual and manual quality control checks, uses imaging and peripheral equipment safely, and reports any malfunctions to the appropriate persons.
Directs and monitors student clinical training, observes students during training, guides them to perform proper ultrasound procedures, conveys information to increase their understanding, evaluates students’ progress, and monitors work performed under supervision.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications To qualify you must have a Certificate from an approved ultrasound or vascular technology education program. You must be registered or eligible for the Registry exam (ARDMS) within one year of hire date.
Required Licenses Cardiovascular Credential Int_CCI, Am Rgtry Diagn Med Sonographer
Preferred Qualifications Registered as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Registered Vascular Technologist. Minimum one year of experience preferred; pediatric experience or urology a plus.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
