Overview As an Ecological Design Engineer for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in the Knoxville office, you will design stream and wetland restoration projects using natural stream design principles and techniques. Your responsibilities include routinely preparing stream and wetland construction drawings and specifications, coordinating 404/401 regulatory permits, overseeing construction to ensure compliance with design criteria, and performing field data collection and analysis of design parameters and regulatory criteria.
Ideal candidates have experience in fluvial geomorphology, hydrology, hydraulics, sediment transport, stream and wetland ecology, and natural channel design. This position requires proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, client interaction, periodic travel and field work, and strong technical writing skills.
Qualifications
1-5 years relevant experience;
B.S. or M.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field;
Experience in natural channel design and wetland restoration design;
Demonstrated understanding of Sections 401 and 404 Clean Water Act regulations and permitting from State and Federal Regulatory Agencies;
Experience in Stream and Wetland Mitigation;
Rosgen Levels 1-4 preferred;
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS preferred;
TN Stream Quantification Tool (SQT) Assessment experience preferred;
Construction Oversight or third‑party construction inspection experience.
