We are seeking a highly skilled
Engineer-Transport IV
to lead logical network transport builds and support capacity planning across Telecommunication’s ULH and OTN Mesh networks. Based in Richardson, TX, this hybrid role plays a critical part in transport planning, project execution, and strategic infrastructure deployment.
Engineer-Transport IV Responsibilities
Lead creation and execution of Capacity Creation Requests (CCRs) for domestic transport builds
Engineer detailed network augments and infrastructure projects across SONET and DWDM systems
Monitor and forecast capacity needs for LD/ULH transport networks and equipment
Generate Bills of Materials, order equipment and cables, and manage equipment installations
Maintain network inventory systems (ICON, Nautilus, CoFEE, CCP) to reflect current builds and decommissions
Perform diversification analysis and wavelength rearrangements to optimize network use
Coordinate with real estate, engineering, operations, and project management to ensure all site readiness (space, power, fiber, diversity)
Provide restoration support and collaborate with GTNOC during fiber outages
Mentor junior engineers and support team development
Present data, reports, and insights to transport planning stakeholders
Attend on-site meetings (approx. 15% local travel per month)
Engineer-Transport IV Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5–10 years’ experience in SONET and DWDM system design
Advanced knowledge of logical transport networks and long-distance infrastructure
Strong skills in Microsoft Office, Visio, and telecom inventory platforms
Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
Proven ability to manage multiple high-impact projects in fast-paced environments
Nice-to-Have Skills
Familiarity with Telecommunication systems: ICON, CCP, BGW, MECCA, NAUTLUS, CANVAS, TCOMS, or nSAP
Experience consolidating data from multiple platforms into centralized systems
