Position Overview Because of their continued growth, a General Contractor in the Greater Seattle Area is seeking a Project Engineer – Commercial Construction Ground-up to join their team. The Project Engineer is responsible for providing leadership and management to assigned projects safely, profitably, and timely while ensuring quality and integrity. The role also includes participation in marketing, estimating, bidding, and contract negotiation phases.

Qualifications

4‑Year degree in Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience as a Project Engineer in commercial construction.

1–3 years of experience in the commercial construction industry as a Project Engineer or Field Engineer.

Familiarity with construction industry computer software.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in business development activities, including client contacts, relationships, proposals, presentations, and negotiations for selected projects.

Maintain professional working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

Champion the orderly and timely transition of projects from the estimating phase to the field, including project review meetings that cover contract requirements, general conditions, schedules, budgets, subcontracts, and purchase order agreements.

Coordinate with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure successful and profitable execution of the work.

Play an integral role in procurement scheduling, paying special attention to prevention and documentation of delays or changes.

Use available reports to manage costs and prepare accurate cost projections.

Review and execute all change orders, supplements, and cost‑control budget adjustments.

Assist in managing all billings to ensure timely submission of payment applications and collection of payments from the owner to maintain a positive cash flow position.

Prepare and execute purchase order agreements and subcontracts, ensuring insurance certificates, bonds, and the appropriate lien waivers.

Provide feedback to estimators for use in future bidding or negotiations, especially subcontractor performance evaluations.

Demonstrate proficiency with all Microsoft Office Suite programs.
