Position Summary The primary role of the Mechanic/Electrician III is to work as a leader on the maintenance team to support company objectives with respect to maintaining and enhancing equipment to support production requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

Setup, repair, install, and maintain machinery equipment including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems; special projects, measuring and calibrating equipment; performing preventative maintenance duties.

Lead the maintenance team, demonstrating the ability to work independently with internal and external customers.

Perform all production equipment setups as required to meet operational needs.

Support and complete preventive and planned maintenance of mechanical, electrical and utilities equipment including cleaning, inspecting, setting up, diagnosing, replacing, testing and continuous improvements.

Lead efforts associated with building new and enhancing equipment through continuous improvements and upgrades.

Inspect visually and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunction.

Identify and report the need for repairs to Maintenance Management.

Coordinate with previous shift’s maintenance and production employees to review the schedule and current runs, identifying repair needs and planning product changeovers.

Communicate effectively with other departments in a professional manner at all times regarding equipment repair status.

Work within the maintenance team to accurately document events for troubleshooting.

Lead the diagnosis of mechanical and electrical malfunctions in machinery and equipment.

Lead assembly and rebuilding efforts of high‑valued equipment.

Lead efforts associated with plant shutdown maintenance work, including fabricating, assembling and installing mechanical/electrical systems.

Teach others how to use shop equipment or programs needed to perform daily functions.

Enhance the knowledge and skills of others in mechanical and electrical systems through mentoring and training.

Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance Managers on projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Complete all tasks while strictly adhering to industry guidelines, including Plant Safety, Food Safety, SQF, and all internal/external audits.

Report food safety & quality problems to the appropriate personnel.

Required Education, Skills & Experience

High School Diploma or GED required.

Basic computer literacy: ability to search online, check email, create and send attachments, and use basic email features.

Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions.

Numerical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Problem‑solving skills in variable situations with limited standardization.

Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Experience with manufacturing equipment including 3‑phase motors, control wiring, 24 VDC, 120 VAC, 208/220 VAC, 480 VAC.

Experience with conveyor system controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps and valves.

Knowledge of production machinery such as fillers, rinsers, cappers, case packers, case formers, coolers and pasteurizers.

Familiarity with Lock‑Out‑Tag‑Out authorized, hot work, confined space and HECP training preferred.

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.

Proficiency in using measuring tools and test equipment.

Independent work with limited supervision.

Mechanical aptitude required.

Knowledge of tools such as drill press, chop saw, port‑a‑band, sawzall and others preferred.

Experience with multimeters, amp probes, megger ohm meters, panelview.

LiDestri experience of 5+ years and familiarity with 100% of plant machinery.

Working Conditions

Long periods of standing/moving, working around moving mechanical parts/conveyors.

Loud environment, hot/cold, wet/dry conditions.

Lifting and carrying items.

Frequent reaching, pulling, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, and bending.
