Location East Boulder Mine – McLeod, MT
Schedule 5x4, 4x5 – 11.5‑hour days
Job Responsibilities At Sibanye‑Stillwater, Mechanics 1 and 2 employ predictive and preventive maintenance techniques to ensure high availability of equipment. They maintain equipment to maximize safety and productivity, repairing and servicing many types of mobile underground and surface equipment such as LHDs, drills, rail haulage equipment, and surface vehicles (including remote control systems). The primary focus is diesel equipment, but Mechanics may also work on stationary and mobile equipment such as hoists, crushers, conveyors, air compressors, and water pumps.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Previous mechanical experience with skill sets needed to meet the applicable task proficiency matrix, such as troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engines (primary focus diesel equipment).
Previous experience with schematics, parts and service manuals.
Working knowledge of rigging procedures.
Demonstrated knowledge of start‑up, shut‑down, tag‑out and safety procedures on equipment.
Overhead crane operation and inspection experience or equivalent.
Consistent, effective written communication skills with attention to detail.
Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Independent work habits.
Must have the required tools as per the Sibanye‑Stillwater tool list or be willing to obtain them (tool allowance provided).
Preferred Qualifications
Underground equipment maintenance experience.
Demonstrated gas/arc welding and oxy‑acetylene cutting work experience.
Computer experience.
Planning and scheduling experience.
Education & Experience
High School Education or GED.
