Position Overview
Outpatient Physical Therapist – WVU Medicine Berkeley and Jefferson Medical Centers
Key Responsibilities
Provides coordinated and comprehensive patient care including assessment, outcome expectations, rehabilitation interventions, and evaluation within an interdisciplinary team approach.
Applies research and proven techniques to examine, diagnose, and prevent or treat conditions that limit the body's ability to move and function in daily life as monitored by supervision, documentation review, and consultation with M.D.
Carries out oversight responsibilities to ensure supervision of PTAs, Rehab Techs, students, and volunteers.
Participates in meeting the goals and objectives of the work unit and department to ensure that the department contributes to the attainment of the hospital’s organization goals and objectives.
Supervision of physical therapy students and volunteers; wills provide supervision of therapy assistants in accordance with regulatory standards.
Submits accurate charges for services rendered for patients, according to departmental policies and procedures utilizing the billing system via the patient’s EMR.
Minimum Qualifications
Current or temporary physical therapist licensure in the applicable state where services will be performed.
Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) year of physical therapist experience.
Physical Requirements
Limit manual patient lifts to 35 pounds; use lift equipment for transfers, lifts, and repositioning as appropriate.
Strength and stamina to lift, move, stoop, reach, stand, walk, and carry materials and equipment weighing 40+ lbs.
Vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Working Environment
Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and chemicals used in cleaning and laundry.
Skills and Abilities
Organize and prioritize time and tasks to achieve well-coordinated work effort and effectively meet work schedules.
Continuing Advancement Ladder
Level 1: No experience required.
Level 2: Meets requirements for previous level; 2 years of experience.
Level 3: Meets requirements for previous levels; 4 years of experience; proficiency requirements.
Level 4: Meets requirements for previous levels; 8 years of experience; professional certification.
Level 5: Meets requirements for previous levels; 10 years of experience; professional certification.
