Job Summary Under direct supervision of the Director of the Neuro/Ortho and according to hospital policies and procedures, the Neuro Navigator facilitates a timely, integrated and coordinated approach to the care of orthopedic patients. Uses a multi-disciplinary approach and acts as a liaison between the patient, staff and referring physician offices as well as ancillary areas of the hospital system. Identifies learning needs and the content for educational programs. Develops, presents, coordinates and evaluates education activities. Effectively performs in the role of clinician, facilitator, advocate, consultant and/or researcher.

What qualifications you will need:

Required:

Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must:

apply for a Texas RN license within 60 days from hire

obtain current Texas RN license within 6 months of application for Texas RN license

Current BLS certification required as per St. David’s Healthcare policy

All Registered Nurses caring for stroke patients will be required to:

1) maintain annual NIHSS per department direction

2) maintain 8 hours of stroke education per year as per department direction

3) must complete the mandatory stroke core measure module on HealthStream per department direction

Preferred: Certification in area of specialty when eligible; Active member and participant in a relevant professional org
