UMMO offers exquisite regional Italian cuisine. We are currently seeking a Line Cook for our renowned restaurant in River North.
Line Cook Job Summary We are seeking skilled and dedicated line cooks to join our dynamic culinary team. As a line cook, you will play a crucial role in preparing and cooking high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Your attention to detail, ability to work well under pressure, and passion for creating delicious dishes will contribute to our customers' exceptional dining experience.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items according to recipe specifications and established standards.
Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies and ingredients.
Ensure food preparation areas are clean, sanitized, and organized.
Follow proper food handling and safety procedures to maintain health and sanitation standards.
Coordinate and communicate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Monitor food quality and presentation throughout the cooking process.
Assist in the development and improvement of menu items and recipes.
Adhere to portion control guidelines to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
Collaborate with the culinary team to maintain an effective and positive work environment.
Requirements
Proven experience as a line cook or in a similar role.
Solid knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen equipment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Food handling certification or willingness to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
Culinary degree or certification from an accredited culinary program.
Experience working in a restaurant or hospitality industry. Knowledge of various cuisines and the ability to adapt to diverse menu offerings.
Creative mindset and willingness to contribute to menu development.
Ability to handle high-stress situations and maintain composure.
